REQUIRED FOR FLORIDA RN. Fulfills the Florida requirement for 2 hours of continuing education on domestic violence .
Learning Outcome and Objectives
1) Define “domestic violence” according to Florida law.
2) Identify the different types of domestic violence.
3) Describe who is affected by domestic violence.
4) Discuss the healthcare implications and adverse effects of domestic violence.
5) List common risk factors, lethality issues, and dynamics of abuse.
6) Recognize the signs and symptoms of domestic violence.
7) Discuss appropriate documentation in cases of suspected domestic violence.
8) Summarize Florida’s mandatory reporting, information sharing, and referral requirements.
9) Identify community resources and victim services and protections.

She is a sexual assault forensic examiner for adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients and serves on the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council of Monterey County in California.
Nancy Evans, BS
Nancy Evans is a health science writer and editor with more than three decades of experience in healthcare publishing. She served as senior editor at Mosby/Times Mirror, senior editor in the health sciences division of Addison-Wesley, and senior medical editor at Appleton & Lange. A breast cancer survivor since 1991, she has written and spoken extensively on breast cancer issues. Nancy co-produced the HBO documentary film Rachel's Daughters: Searching for the Causes of Breast Cancer. She is also the co-producer of Children and Asthma, a KQED documentary film, and the documentary, Good Food, Bad Food: Obesity in American Children.
