Michelle Isley, MD, MPH

Dr. Isley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Dr. Isley received her M.D. in 2002 at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed her residency in 2006 at The Ohio State University and a fellowship in Family Planning from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. She also received her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Oregon Health and Science University. Her major research and clinical interests include general obstetrics and gynecology; family planning in general, with special interest in contraception for women with coexisting medical conditions, postpartum contraception, resident and medical student training in LARC insertion. She has published 14 articles, and 7 book chapters.
Learning Objectives
1. The participant will be able to discuss the epidemiology of abortion in the U.S.
2. The participant will be able to compare the advantages and disadvantages of medical and surgical abortion in the first trimester.
3. The participant will know the medications used for medication abortion and how they are administered.
4. The participants will be able to describe the risks and complications associated with abortion.
5. The participant will be able to describe the surgical techniques of first and second trimester abortion.
6. The participant will be able to discuss how to use misoprostol for induction abortion in the second trimester.
