Course Description
MANDATORY OHIO NURSING CEU. Ohio Law and Rules Category A 2-hour course. Fulfills the requirement for 2 contact hours of Category A CE for individuals applying for licensure by endorsement (from another state). Ohio Nurse Practice Act covers standards for competent nursing practice of RNs and LPNs.
Learning Outcome and Objectives
1) Describe the Ohio Scope of Practice Decision-Making Model.

2) Compare the roles of the Ohio Board of Nursing and Ohio professional associations.

3) Discuss the standards for competent nursing practice of RNs and LPNs in Ohio.

4) Explain standards for the promotion of patient safety by licensed nurses in Ohio.

5) Summarize the RN and LPN standards for applying the nursing process in Ohio.

6) Describe violations of nursing laws and rules that may result in disciplinary action.

Persis Hamilton has a rich background in nursing, nursing education, and writing. She has written 14 nursing textbooks for 2 major publishers. Persis taught for more than 40 years in vocational, associate, baccalaureate, and graduate nursing programs, served as item writer for the League for Nursing, and was the principle speaker at numerous CE workshops. She has also conducted research in Micronesia and Guam. Persis has also written a historical novel about the care of psychiatric patients in the 1930s, entitled Deportation Train.
