Target Audience

This course is designed to provide continuing education for Florida Nurses and Nurse Practitioners. It fulfills the continuing education requirement for those licensed in the state of Florida.

Method of Participation

In order to receive credit, participants should read the entire downloadable monograph.  Once you have read the monograph, you will continue to the online self-assessment test and evaluation.  You must score at least 70% on the self-assessment test to receive credit. AKH Inc. allows for one (1) re-test at no additional charge; additional re-tests must be purchased again at the full cost. Certificates will be available in your transcripts upon successful completion of the self-assessment test and evaluation. Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  •      Define fitness for duty in the healthcare workplace.
  •      Recognize the impact of poor job performance and substance use on quality care and overall safety.
  •      Review specific indicators of poor job performance related to substance use,  mental and emotional conditions, physical compromise and cognitive decline.
  •      Develop strategies to promote safety and provide assistance to an unsafe  healthcare employee.
  •      Explain how the Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN) and the Professional  Resources Network (PRN) in Florida assist healthcare professionals identified as unsafe practitioners.
