Closing the Osteoporosis Gap: Addressing the Crisis in Osteoporosis Care
Course Description
This plenary session will provide a high-level overview of the current scope of the problem. The current state of osteoporosis care and the developing crisis will be discussed including the declining trend in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Target Audience
This continuing education activity is intended for use by health professionals who participate in the care of patients at risk for or suffering from osteoporosis, in the areas of primary care, endocrinology, geriatrics, gynecology, internal medicine, obstetrics, orthopedics, osteopathy, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, rheumatology and physical therapy.

This includes physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, technologists, researchers, public health professionals and health educators with an interest in osteoporosis and bone health.
Objectives
1. Discuss current issues which impact osteoporosis care.
2. Describe declining trends in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with osteoporosis.
3. Identify factors which contribute to the global crisis in the management of osteoporosis.
