David Mckenna, MD

Dr. McKenna practices at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He is the Medical Director of the Perinatal Intensive Care Unit and a Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. McKenna received his M.D. in 1992 at Case Western Reserve, University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1996 he completed his residency at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He completed his Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine in 1998 at The Ohio State University and in 2003 he completed the Associate of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology Solvay Educational Scholars Development Program. His major research and clinical interests include prematurity, preeclampsia, antenatal steroids, cervical ripening, isoimmunization and obstetrical ultrasound. He has published 46 articles and 5 book chapters

4. Choose and appropriate ripening technique.
5. Be able to widely argument labor.
5. Know the indications and contraindication for attempting VBAC.
6. Know the signs of uterine rupture.
7. Know the long-term consequences of choosing repeat section versus VBAC.
8. Be able to appropriate counsel patients regarding material request for primary cesarean delivery.
9. Understand the rational for recommending routine cesarean section in the term breech.
10. Know how to reduce the frequency of breech presentations by external version.
11. Understand the complications of external version.
12. Discuss the ways of handling a premature breech delivery or second twin breech.
